<text>An alternative version of page 4 of "Early Jacksonville History: Introduction" (3 of 3). This version is similar but not identical to the page 4 present in that item.

Another copy of this same alternative page 4 exists in the archive. We have not cataloged it as a separate item, because we believe it to have been typed at the same time as this one. The two documents share the same idiosyncrasies of this one (see, for instance, the letters Ou at the end of the first paragraph on both documents, which appear to be the start of the word Out, which was then retyped on the next line as the first word of a new paragraph. The main differences between the two documents appear to be the smudging on the words burying ground in the fourth paragraph and Florida at the very end, as well as the damage to the edges. One of these pages is, perhaps, a carbon copy of the other.</text>

Pages 3-5 of this document present an addendum (to which Muse refers as a "rider"), the text of which, according to Muse's notes, was to be inserted in the middle of page 2. The pagination of the document is therefore as follows: pp. 1-2, pp. 1-2 of Muse's text; pp. 3-5, Muse's addendum to p. 2; pp. 6-15, pp. 3-12 of Muse's text. We represent the material in the addendum as it appears on the physical pages, not incorporating it into the flow of the document at the point of insertion that Muse indicates. For this reason, the text at the bottom of p. 2 continues at the top of p. 6 (according to our pagination).</text>
