The first two lines appear to be struck in the original, but we preserve them in both the transcription and reading version, as they are needed to introduce the rest of the text. Muse's intention was perhaps to indicate that this entire version of the Smart P. Livingston notes were obsolete, but this is unclear because the majority of the text is not crossed out.
